By now you should have downloaded all your DNA files onto your own device as per our email campaign sent out on 16 January, 23 January and 27 January. This aligns with our privacy policy : “we do not guarantee indefinite storage ” (see our Privacy Policy section 9).
All genetic data has now been deleted from our systems – this aligns with our promise to never share or sell your DNA data. All future results will be delivered via our new platform powered by Tresorit Engage and by invitation only.

Your raw data is a simple .txt file that contains approximately 700.000 DNA data points (genetic variants) that were analysed by our DNA test.
Out of such a large number of data, we’ve selected a few hundred variants, to include in your Gene Variant Report.
There may be more SNPs that you may feel could be relevant to you but were not included in our report.
You may wish to browse your raw data file or to upload it to other internet DNA data interpretation tools.
In order to search your raw data file, you need to download it first.
To download the file you need to be logged into your account.
Next, access the folder labelled with the name of the Sample Donor.
Your raw data file (if applicable and issued) is contained within the folder which is labelled with the bar code number of your sample.
Click on the … (three dots symbol) and choose the DOWNLOAD option from the drop-down menu as shown below.
You can use this exact, same method to download your PDF reports.

How to extract a .zip file:
If you’re using Windows (Windows 10 or 11 — most common)
- Find the .zip file → It usually has a little zipper icon on it and ends with .zip (Often in your Downloads folder)
- Two easy ways to unzip — pick whichever feels more comfortable:
Option A – The quickest way (right-click method)- Right-click on the .zip file (or tap and hold if using a touch screen)
- Choose Extract All… from the menu
- A little window pops up asking “Where do you want to extract these files?” → You can leave it as is (it will make a new folder with the same name) or click Browse to pick somewhere else (like Desktop or Documents)
- Click Extract
- Wait a few seconds — a new folder will appear with all the files inside, ready to use
- Double-click the .zip file
- It opens like a normal folder showing what’s inside
- If you want everything: → Press Ctrl + A (selects all files) → Right-click → Copy → Go to the place you want the files (e.g. Desktop) → right-click → Paste
- Or drag just the files/folders you want out of the zip window to your Desktop or another folder
Done! You can delete the original .zip file afterward if you don’t need it.
If you’re using a Mac (any recent macOS)
- Find the .zip file → Usually in Downloads — it has a little zipper symbol
- Double-click the .zip file
- That’s it! macOS does everything automatically
- A new folder (or files) will appear right next to the .zip file (usually with the same name)
- You can now open/use the new files or folder → Feel free to move them to Desktop, Documents, or anywhere else → You can throw the .zip file in the bin afterward if you want
(If nothing happens when you double-click, right-click → Open With → Archive Utility — but this is very rare.)
Quick Tips for Both Windows & Mac
- The unzipped files are usually in a new folder with almost the same name as the .zip file
- If you only want one file from inside: double-click the zip → drag that one file out to your desktop
- After unzipping, the original .zip file stays there — it’s like a backup copy
